Strategy to execution · Implementation project

You know what's needed. Now actually put it in place.

In short: An Implementation project by STOF to Grow is a defined assignment in which one chosen commercial change is actually put in place, such as a new story in sales, a handover between marketing and sales or a fixed commercial rhythm. With a clear start and end, and an owner who carries the change on afterwards.

The Implementation project is for organisations that know what needs to change, but can't get it in place alongside the day job. Together we choose one change, agree up front when it counts as working, and implement it with the people who have to carry it.

It's a defined assignment with a clear start and end. Not a programme that keeps running, but one change that works in practice, with an owner who carries it on once we've gone.

When to choose an Implementation project

  • The strategy or new story is in place, but nothing is different on Monday morning.
  • Everyone agrees on what needs to happen, but nobody has time for it.
  • An earlier plan stalled after the kick-off, because day-to-day pressure won.
  • The leadership team wants one thing done properly, rather than ten things halfway.
  • You need someone to drive the change, without hiring an interim manager straight away.

Examples of one chosen change

  • A new story in sales: the pitch, proposals and a conversation guide based on the positioning, and a sales team that practises until it comes naturally.
  • The handover between marketing and sales: one definition of a good lead, agreements on follow-up and a regular meeting, set up in the CRM.
  • A commercial rhythm: regular meetings with a fixed agenda, a handful of KPIs and a dashboard the leadership team uses every month.
  • Launching a new proposition: rolling it out internally, preparing the team and approaching the first customers.

We choose the change together. It often comes out of a Positioning sprint, a Growth diagnosis or your own plan.

How the assignment works

  1. Look and listen — we look at where things get stuck today: in routines, roles, meetings or systems. And we talk to the people who will have to carry the change.
  2. Make a sharp choice — we define the change and agree up front when it counts as working. We also record what falls outside the assignment.
  3. Align — we put the change in place with the team: new agreements, materials and ways of working, set up where the work happens. We drive, the team takes part.
  4. Follow through — we test whether the change works, adjust, and hand over to an internal owner who carries it on.

What you'll have at the end

  • One change that works in practice, tested against what we agreed up front.
  • The agreements, materials and ways of working that go with it, set up in your own systems.
  • An internal owner who carries the change on.
  • A handover with owners and open points, so you can carry on yourselves.

What it asks of your team

A sponsor in the leadership team who backs the change and makes the calls. The people who have to carry the change, with time to take part. And someone who becomes the owner afterwards.

And then?

The assignment stands on its own. If you want to keep checking for the first few months that the change holds, that's possible with support from one quarter. Also read ‘The strategy is set. But on Monday morning nothing changes’.

Frequently asked questions about the Implementation project

What does an Implementation project cost?

We work on a project basis, not by the hour. If STOF is a good fit for your challenge, you'll receive a proposal after the introductory call with a fixed price, a clear timeline and what you'll have at the end. Longer-term support is agreed per month, all-in.

How long does it take?

That depends on the change. A new story in sales needs a different timeline from a commercial rhythm. We agree the timeline up front, along with what needs to be working at the end.

How is it different from interim management?

An interim manager fills a role. An Implementation project puts one defined change in place, with a clear end and an internal owner who takes over afterwards. If you need someone temporarily on the leadership team, read ‘No commercial director for now. But a plan that has to go ahead’.

Do we need to do another programme with you first?

No. If you already know what needs to change, we can start straight away. We first check briefly that the change is well defined.

Who will we be working with?

You'll work with both Nona and Carlijn. We're a team and look together at which expertise and experience fits your challenge best. You have one fixed point of contact, unless we agree otherwise together, and we both know what's going on in your organisation. Who leads the project depends on the project: we bring in the right expertise and always spar with each other. Our approach is documented, so the project keeps moving during illness or holidays.

Who is the assignment not right for?

If you're only looking for extra hands to execute, a standalone website or a new logo without the choices behind it, or someone to keep managing it forever, we're not the right partner. We do build brands and websites: as a translation of your positioning, in sprints, with a trusted technical partner when it gets technically heavier. We do need to be able to sit in on the teams and conversations where the story is told.
